Internship Position:

Title: Looking for intern to help manage and grow online guitar learning websites using paid advertising and social media marketing.

Background:

My name is Mike Deiure and I am an Oneonta Alumni from the class of 2001. I’m the creator of the online guitar learning websites RockGuitarPower.com and SuperGuitarLicks.com. I’ve taught guitar and piano for over 15 years as well as recorded and produced many artists in the Rochester, NY area.

In addition to this, I also work in the field of paid online advertising helping businesses sell their products and services on Facebook, Instagram, Google and YouTube. I’ve worked for myself since finishing college and live a totally mobile and independent lifestyle.

What I’m Looking For:

I am looking for a self motivated and organized intern to help grow and increase membership to my guitar sites through the use of paid advertising and social media marketing.

Location:

While I live and work out of Rochester, NY, location is not important as all training can be done via skype calls, screen shares and online conferencing. I.E. you can work from wherever you like as long as you are productive, focused and prove that you are putting in a very serious effort. If you do happen to live in Rochester, NY then we can spend more time in-person training and working together.

We will schedule set times each week to do live calls where work will be reviewed and new tasks will be assigned and explained.

Skills You Will Learn:

How to manage paid online advertising with Facebook and Google

How to understand analytic systems to study advertising performance metrics

How to play guitar or improve your existing skills.

And PLENTY More.

Compensation:

I am happy to pay someone that shows they are truly worth it and provide enough value to warrant it. But this needs to be proven first. I am looking for someone to help grow this business and would be delighted to have you become an asset that I could not function without!

These are the primary duties that I am in need of an intern focusing on:

1. Creating posts for Instagram and Facebook to grow social community

2. Help manage paid advertising on both platforms as well as on google ads. (This will be taught)

3. Manage customer support, post comments and monitor feedback

4. Edit raw video content for use in posts and ads (software and training can be provided)

5. Report on performance analytics from both paid advertising and social engagement

6. Learn and monitor automation systems used to run online membership sites (This will be taught)

7. Setup and send emails to promote live online events such as performances and lessons.

8. Come up with new ideas, spot trends and look for growth opportunities

These are the main skills/assets I would consider a “need”:

-A solid computer with good, reliable internet. Mac preferred, but not necessary

-Experienced with posting on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. (Main thing I’m looking for here is best use of hashtags, keyword tags and ways to organically get shares and engagement)

-A basic understanding of how to play guitar and all the accessories and gear associated with being a player (while this isn’t totally necessary, it will greatly help. You at least need to be very interested in learning guitar so that you can better understand the needs of my customers and students).

-Great spreadsheet skills (Excel & Google sheets)

-Great communication skills, patience and empathy (needed for customer support and replying to posts)

-Proactive and self reliant – While I will give you plenty of things to do or be responsible for… I’m mostly looking for someone that can think and act for themselves after a basic understanding of how this business works is established.

Additional skills:

-understanding of how to use wordpress for website updating

-flexible schedule – This is not a typical work week engagement. I’ll be flexible as long as you are too!

-excited to learn new skills and be coachable/trainable.
